Today I went to my lot and tied pretty red ribbons around trees slated for destruction. (I almost, ALMOST, bought sparkly silver bunches of spiral ribbons to nail to each doomed tree, just for the irony of it. You should have seen me smiling in the gift-wrapping aisle with tween girls in Walmart.) Loan's closing Monday, and the executioner is due a day or two after. But there is a plan for resurrection. My "consulting general contractor" knows of a mill nearby where I can have the trees cut into boards and dried. Then the trees can return as glorified bodies to their birthplace to be used for a roof deck - bedding for viewing the heavens.
